How to Keep the Halloween Party Going

I'm sure you know that Halloween is the holiday Americans spend
the most money celebrating, outside of Christmas. But did you
know that much money is spent mostly because the "good" candy is
so darn expensive? More about that later...
I love Halloween. Not, as you might guess, because I like to
don creepy costumes and scare little children. Or, as my wife
calls it, dressing myself and going to work.
I don't even love Halloween for the other obvious reason you
might guess - because it's an opportunity to let loose my inner
child. I do enjoy all the play surrounding Halloween and how
much more readily accepted my daily gags and groaners are on
this phenomenal children's holiday. But that's still not the
major fun for me this holiday.
Nope.
I do love those things about Halloween, but what I love most is
watching OTHER adults let loose for a change. At Halloween, all
grown-ups get permission to play and it is so much fun to watch
my (sometimes) so-serious, fellow grown-ups dress up, hang
ghosts in their yards, and pick out candy.
I'll bet, as a confirmed humor being, you are undoubtedly
playing on most days (let alone on Halloween). But take a tip
from me during this week and revel in the fully sanctioned party
that ensues among those around you.
And keep a copy of It All Starts with a SMILE in your arms or on
your desk the week after. In an effort to keep the party going!
When my wife buys Halloween candy, by the way, I always make
sure to sort it prior the the arrival of trick-or-treaters. The
"good" candy gets held back til last and I, of course, liberally
sample the Snickers and Reese's Cups throughout the evening. You
know...to make sure they haven't gone stale at any point
since their purchase!
