How to Declare Your Independence Today

Independence Day is a day to honor our
American heroes.

But did you know that our 18th President,
Ulysses S. Grant, lost his entire life
savings on a bad investment just a few
years prior to his death? Or that our 3rd
President, Thomas Jefferson, almost went
bankrupt in his final years - saved only by
friends and privately raised money?

My point is not to drag these two American
heroes through the mud. Especially not on
this holiday!

No. My point is that you can go ahead and
lighten up on yourself for your mistakes. Even
some of our heroes made whoppers!

In fact, I want you to declare your
independence today by remembering my Fun
Commandment, Welcome Your Mistakes.

You are a mistake making machine; you were
born to make them. Actually, if you're not
making mistakes, I wonder what's wrong with
you. Why are you playing it so safe?

You don't need to make huge mistakes like
our former Commander-in-Chiefs. But so
what if you do? Does anybody consider
those two former Presidents failures?

Nope. And why should they? Those
gentlemen are remembered, rightfully so,
for their many accomplishments.

Just like Babe Ruth. We remember his 714
home runs...not his 1,330 strikeouts!

Just like you, in fact. You're remembered
by your friends and loved ones for your
generous spirit, your open heart, and your
warm smiles. Not your mistakes!

So give yourself a break today and welcome
your mistakes. Everyone else is already
giving you a break - just join them!

And, when you do, you'll experience a
completely different kind of Independence
Day! Good luck!
