Hello
How to Help Children by Walking
Into a Wall

"It all starts with a SMILE"
Did you know that a five-year-old laughs two hundred and fifty-
six times a day, while a thirty-five-year-old laughs thirty
times? Where do you see yourself in that statistic? More
about that later…
Play is instrumental in creating the fearless, happy family. Play
comes naturally to children, but has become neglected by
too many of us adults.
Many adults think of play as an evasion of responsibility. In
certain circumstances this can be true, but if we neglect play
in our family interactions we are missing a vital building
block for a fun, fearless family.
My first memory of play's importance in my family happened when
I was four years old. I had been playing in our backyard, when
I came into the kitchen for a drink. I walked directly into a
fierce argument between my mother and father. Their anger and
tone of voice were so severe that I still remember it today. I
was scared; I had never heard them speak to each other in such
a manner.
As I stood in the doorway, my mother shouted her final angry
words and stomped out of the kitchen, slamming the door behind
her for emphasis. My father (my first and best teacher
regarding humor) sensed my distress and immediately made as if
to follow her, purposefully walking right into the door my
mother had just slammed. My dad's slapstick made me laugh, but
more importantly, it told me, better than any words could say,
that everything was going to be okay and this argument was not
something over which to be stressed.
That's how powerful play can be in a family and I encourage you
to utilize it. If you've gotten out of touch with play, you
should spend some time watching your children or grandchildren
as soon as possible. I just spent Saturday evening with two of
my grandchildren, they are my greatest teachers in this arena.
Are you closer to thirty laughs a day, rather than two hundred
and fifty? Has play become less important in your adult life? If
so, rethink that decision because play is an essential
exercise in learning effective coping skills for challenging
circumstances. Because play can be the most useful teaching
and learning tool a family has.

The Law of Attraction and the Natural Medicine
of Humor: A Heavenly Match
By Clifford Kuhn, M.D.
Trying to use the law of attraction without the natural
medicine of humor is like flying from New York to California in
an old crop duster. You’ll probably get there, but it’ll be
noisier, dirtier, less safe, and take a heck of a lot longer
than flying in a modern jet aircraft. The natural medicine of
humor is tailor-made for deliberate creation. Like the old
commercial said, if you’re a student of the law of attraction,
you shouldn’t leave home without it!
