How to Get a Huge Kiss this Holiday
Season

“Mistletoe not required,” the billboard read. That’s all it
said. Along with a huge photo of a diamond ring.

Whoa, what a message!

That billboard just summed up, for me, where all the holiday
stress and depression comes from. Nothing like the season of
giving to remind us that we have to earn love and happiness.

“That’s right folks,” the billboard might as well have
screamed, “for a mere $500 someone will love you!” Advertisers
usually need to be subtle with such messages, but I suppose
they feel a certain creative license is granted during the
holidays.

After all, we’re all giving gifts this month; we’re fish in a
barrel, how can they resist?

No holds barred from advertisers, movie makers, and TV
producers. Its open season on all us “poor saps” who can be
made to imagine happiness and have fun comes through the right
purchase. We who can be convinced that happiness and fun come
from the outside, having to be earned with the proper gifts.

I had my tongue planted firmly in my cheek when I wrote that
last paragraph, but there’s a lot of truth to what I
wrote! And there’s certainly a lot of stress and depression
during the holidays. Our season of joy and happiness has one
of the highest suicide rates.

This season, let’s take the joy, happiness, and fun back. Let’s
