The Fun Times - Why Laughter is Better than Gunfire

Hello

Why Laughter is Better than Gunfire

"It all starts with a SMILE"

You know that my main focus is not upon laughter; I don't
recommend that you laugh all the time because life consists of
many moments where laughter is neither appropriate nor possible.

My message is about finding the gentle humor of life, the kind
that brings a smile to your face. After all - only a smile is
required to lower your blood pressure, relax your mind, inspire
your creative juices, release endorphins, enhance communication,
and elevate your mood (among other things). And a smile is
almost always appropriate and possible.

Of course, when you can find laughter you amplify those benefits
exponentially.

And, perhaps, the greatest gift of laughter is that it roots you
in the present moment. It's been said that experiencing sex,
gunfire, and laughter are the three sure ways to forget about
the past (stop being angry) and forget about the future (stop
being worried). Most of us don't want to be around gunfire and
having sex multiple times daily is probably not the best idea
either!

So that leaves us with laughter as the best way to anchor
ourselves in the present moment.

And when you're in the present moment, you're fully alive. You've
"lost your mind", in that you're no longer focusing on,
nor living in, the illusions of the past or the future. The
only thing that is real, after all, is right now and the more
you live in the moment the more vibrantly alive you feel.

In fact, you can't really laugh without being in the present
moment. Because, even when remembering a funny past event, the
present moment is where the humor is always experienced.

This is one of the reasons you feel so good when you leave a
comedy club or a friend's house after you've laughed heartily
and enjoyed yourself. You've spent a great deal of time
immersed in the present moment and you're more fully alive than
the average humor being. And that great feeling is part of the
reason you read this newsletter and my books - because you're
reminded of how to get that feeling back again and again.

So smile a lot this week. And laugh as much as you can too. This
is your reminder that you'll love the way you feel!
