Why You Should be Just Like
Abraham Lincoln

"It all starts with a SMILE"

Abraham Lincoln was reported to have
said, “If you give me three hours to chop
down a tree, I’ll spend the first two
sharpening my axe.” How can you not agree
with that philosophy? Yet, as much as you
agree with it, you don’t dedicate much time
to your personal preparation if you’re like
most people I help.

It’s a common problem. I see lack of
personal maintenance in my patients
constantly. It takes the form of obesity,
depression, chronic pain, divorce – you
name it, I’ve seen it!

Lack of maintenance is a real problem and
it really stops you in your tracks because
you must expend so much energy cleaning up
your messes instead of achieving your
goals.

I don’t want you to focus so much on
cleaning the wreckage of your under-
maintained life. You’re planning to use
the incredible power of humor and fun to
achieve health and success like never
before and I’ve got a great tool to get you
there. My new Fun Commandment, Sharpen
Your Axe!

I want you to develop the habit of
mental, spiritual, and physical renewal.

Most of my patients rarely read, meditate,
or exercise when they initially consult
with me. No wonder they’ve become so
serious! And, unfortunately, you are also
putting yourself in the same risk
category. Your mind, spirit, and body are
crying out to be taken care of and ignoring
them is making you much more unhappy than
you need to be.

Sharpening your axe is like caring for your
house. You don’t wait for one day a year
to perform cleaning, repairs, and upkeep. You
wouldn’t wait until your entire roof
caves in before replacing a few leaky
shingles. You know that regular occasional
attention to those three things keeps your
house in as good a shape as you want it to
be.

Yet you take those very same risks with
yourself. You wait until you’re depressed,
lonely, or ill before you start taking
steps to care for yourself. This is why
you sometimes get that hopeless feeling of
being trapped in a cycle of defective
behavior.

Let’s remedy that today.

Maintenance simply involves small daily and
weekly rituals which keep your mind, body,
and spirit in good condition. Sharpening
your axe thusly not only helps you avoid
creating those horrible personal messes,
but is also infuses you with positive and
powerful energy, vitality, and enthusiasm.

You become a fully-charged piece of
equipment, ready to perform all your tasks
and functions at optimal efficiency!

In two weeks, I'll share my top-flight
strategies for using humor to keep your axe
razor sharp.
