Hello
What Do Buddy Holly and John Wayne
Have in Common?

When you finally get everything you want,
that'll be the day you finally happy,
right? You know the phrase "that'll be the
day" was popularized most famously by Buddy
Holly and The Crickets in 1957. But do you
know what inspired Buddy Holly? I'll share
that with you in a moment...
You know I'm going to tell you that you
don't need to get everything you want to be
happy, don't you? But since you want to
achieve more, I'm going to tell you how in
this issue.
You are a happy, healthy, and successful
person. But you want to be even more so. Me
too. How lucky we are that the world in
which we live is abundant.
The problem is you're not sharing in that
abundance to the extent you'd like. Perhaps
your hands have been too full
lately. Allow me to explain.
Success, health, and happiness are not zero-
sum games; as you increase your levels of
these resources you do not lower my
levels. In fact, you don't even detract
from my ability to have more too! There is
more than enough happiness, health, and
success for us all to share.
But there is one paradoxical requirement
for your greater sharing of life's
abundance. In order to receive, you must
give. This paradox is a rule handed down
through our history and I've created a Fun
Commandment around it: Empty Your Hands.
Emptying your hands is a metaphor you must
take quite literally. If your hands are
full you cannot receive anything else,
right? And so you must give freely in
order to clear space for additional
resources.
And this Commandment finds its way to you
because there is another aspect to the rule
of giving. You receive that which you
give. Thus, you can decide what you will
give and have more influence over what you
will receive. Can you guess what I want
you to give? You get three and the first
two don't count!
Buddy Holly, by the way, was inspired by
the 1956 John Wayne movie, The Searchers. In
this movie, Wayne's cowboy was a rebel
ala Marlon Brando or James Dean and he
replied to anyone who disagreed with him by
saying, "That'll be the day!"
The phrase caught on with teenagers and the
rest is history...thanks to Buddy Holly!
In two weeks I'll tell you exactly how to
empty your hands. In the meantime, please
share your experiences with me.

How to Infuse Yourself with Energy, Health, and
Success - by Focusing on Fun
By Cliff Kuhn, M.D.

Not knowing the distinction between fun and
funny is understandable, we interchange
them often. But forgetting it once you know
is dangerous to your health. Focusing on
making people laugh is a discouraging game
which places too much pressure on you. In
addition, that focus short circuits the
powerful natural medicine of humor.
