How to Bend a Spoon in Three
Easy Steps

"It all starts with a SMILE"

The other day I wandered into my son's family room while my
grandson watched the popular movie "The Matrix." The scene I
encountered is of particular interest to a humor being like you.

In this scene, the hero enters an apartment and sees a young boy
using his mind to bend a silver cereal spoon. Upon witnessing
the hero's astonishment, the boy explains (and I'm
paraphrasing), "You must first understand that the spoon doesn't
exist. Then you must learn that you don't even bend the spoon
at all; you bend your mind (and the spoon bends in response)."

As someone wanting great health and happiness (wanting bend your
spoon, so to speak) you should heed that advice, take it to
heart, and begin to apply it immediately. The good news is that
bending your mind is a lot simpler than you might think. And
I'll teach you how to do it in this issue.

First let's acknowledge that we all want the spoon to bend for
us, or bend better than it has been. We all want more love,
energy, health, fitness, money, material goods, etc. These
things are the spoons we wish to bend, in the form of getting
more of them. The bottom line is that we all want to be happy
and we have an inner knowing that some combination of those
things will produce happiness for us.

Let's also acknowledge that the spoon isn't bending for you the
way you want it (or not as much as you'd like). You do not have
the amount of love, energy, health, fitness, money, and material
goods that you desire. You do not possess the right combination
of those things and you are not as happy as you know you could
be.

Yet if you keep focusing on bending the spoon, if you keep
trying to alter the material circumstances around you, you will
always be lacking those things.

Because, as the boy in the movie says, that spoon is not even
real. Dont' fret; we all get stuck in the false paradigm of
thinking the spoon is real. We all find ourselves, from time to
time, believing that love, energy, health, fitness, money, and
material goods are pre-existing; that these things exist
irrespective of us and await our finding (or our not finding)
them.

Your happiness and freedom are already inside you in great
abundance. Waiting for your humor nature to bring them forth!

To bend your mind, you need to practice three things for thirty
days:

1. Practice not seeing the spoons as real things. The material
things and circumstances producing happiness in your life, like
money, companionship, health, love, etc. are merely reflections
of you and how you feel about yourself. Don't get angry if
those reflections aren't as pleasing as you'd like; accept your
reflections for what they are and know that changing them will
be a lot simpler than you imagined.

2. Meditate each morning for at least fifteen minutes. Hum a
tone to focus yourself and imagine yourself reaching inside your
skull and removing your brain. Don't fight against the thoughts
which arise: acknowledge them and let them float off into the
air. Cultivate emotions of freedom and abundance and feel them
rise up your spine and out of the the small space between your
eyes.

3. Take a primary interest in raising your self-worth. Take
yourself less seriously, as you continue to take your
responsibilities seriously. Focus on one of my fifty-two Smile
Strategies in my new book. Remembering the instructions on the
oxygen masks in airplanes, take care of yourself first! Why? Because
if you're unconscious, what good will you be to your
companion anyway? Raise your self-worth, consistently, each and
every day!

Try these three steps everyday for thirty days. You'll be
amazed and astonished at how reality begins to bend for you and
you will become much more closely aligned with your desires. Of
course, I can't be held responsible for replacing all the spoons
in your silverware drawer!
